Turrets Vipros 255

Amada Turret Punch Presses form the heart of our precision fabrication shop. These computer numeric control (CNC) machines use a program language called G-code to position a blank of sheet metal under specified punches to produce a flat pattern which is then formed into 3D geometry on press brakes. Turret presses are extremely versitile and fast. Because tooling is quickly and easily changed, they are more cost effective than traditional presses for all but very high volume runs. In addition, changes to drawings are easily handled expediting the prototype process.

The machine accuracy and repeatability help us ensure that we meet or exceed drawing requirements and your components will fit together. The Vipros 255 is a hydraulic machine making the forming of embosses, countersinks, louvers, etc. easier and more economical.

Laser Amada Quattro

The recent addition of an Amada precision laser cutting machine gives us increased versitility with materials and odd shapes. In addition, short runs and prototypes can be produced without the cost of special tooling that is sometimes necessary with the turrets. And a laser cut made with the proper settings for a given material virtually eliminates the need for deburring.

Press Brakes

Precision sheet metal forming is our specialty. Using modern press brakes like the Amada RG50, our experienced operators craft flat sheet metal patterns into the three dimensional geometry specified by the customer drawings. Tolerances are much easier to control with these new, highly adjustable machines. The Amadas are hydraulically actuated allowing more control over how the machine forms the sheet metal. Programmable back gages and DNC capability make the process more efficient and dramatically reduce setup time. We have a large inventory of tooling including sectionalized punch and die sets in several shapes to allow us to form a wide variety of complex components.

Machining Centers

Production machining at Fab Tech is accomodated by an Haas VF-O vertical machining center and an Accromax 16 VMC.

Presses

Our press epuipment is capable of stamping .005" stainless steel to .188" mild steel. The machines shown in the image at right are our two newest additions: Komatsu 45T and 80T mechanical/hydraulic presses.

Welding

Welding is an integral part of sheet metal fabrication. With Millermatic TIG welders we are capable of welding mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Even very thin aluminum (.020") is no challenge for our experienced operators. Two resistance spot welding (RSW) machines allow us to satisfy engineering requirements for fastening hinges on door panels, tie wrap brackets, and numerous other applications in precision sheet metal fabrication. Millermatic MIG welders are give us the capability to join heavier materials and still maintain the clean, neat appearance you expect.

Finishing

Our finishing department has the equipment and experienced personnel to apply the coatings your parts require. Baked on organic finishes can be applied with traditional spray systems or powder coatings. Our operators are skilled in the application of smooth or textured coatings.

Of course no paint system can perform unless the substrate is properly cleaned and prepared. At Fab Tech, we use a five stage iron phosphate conversion process which thoroughly cleans the metal and provides a surface more receptive to paint adhesion. Quality assurance measures are employed to ensure proper chemistry in the cleaning tanks, proper coating thickness and adhesion, and proper curing cycle.

Printing/Silkscreening

If your components require marking, our print shop can handle the task. We produce all of our own silkscreens in the shop. The film positive necessary to expose a silkscreen is developed in our graphic arts department. We can layout the master from your paper drawing or receive a computer file (.pdf, .bmp, .dxf, etc.) via the internet or on disk. Our VR laser imagesetter produces very close tolerance film positives which in turn produce very accurate silkscreens and you can be assured that your markings will be where you want them on your parts.

For components having curved surfaces, very small components or for printing in recessed areas, our pad transfer printing system meets the challenge. Using silicon rubber pads of various shapes and sizes, the machine lifts the ink from a clichè and transfers the image to the part.
